LEGO Star Wars Homing Spider Droid Review for MF0

The Box
Here we come to a close on this theme week. Do we end in a high note? Let's find out.

Frame Front
Frame Back
Can you build some sort of creation right away?

I made this little 'sphere' stompy frame which I really like! Is this a twank? +5 points

Frame Comparison
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio? The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.

$9.99 / 102 pieces = $0.10 cents per part meeting the ratio for ZERO points.

Parts 1
Parts 2
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?

I put them to use, didn't? +5 points!

Parts 3 - so many parts
Parts 3
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?

I am going to give this set a yes for 5 points!

The Set
Set - Comparison
Total: So we end with another A set. Not to bad for the microfighter series! Once could argue the set build itself could be a frame but I think it pushing out of our suggested 10x10x12 box.

LEGO Star Wars Republic Gunship Review for MF0

The Box
Sorry about a day late for the Theme week, was dealing with some stuff. Let's get into this surprise of a set.
Frame Build
Frame Back
Can you build some sort of creation right away?

Clearly a yes, I think I got a nice little frame here over all. Rather proud of this one even if the feet are not my favorite. I think I have used foot design before. +5 points!

Frame Comparison
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio? The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.

$9.99 / 105 = $0.10 for a break even for +0 points.

Parts 1
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?

Several useful parts surprisingly enough! +5 points.

Parts 2
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?

Handful?! Check the yes box! +5 points

Parts 3
Total: A set! I was not expecting this from this set at all, and again I am really happy with that frame. Look at that thing! Do it! Thank you.

LEGO Star Wars AT-AT Review for MF0

The Box
Isn't that like the cutest frame ever?

Frame in a Box?
Can you build some sort of creation right away?

I think it is a frame in the box! The body pushes the limits but I think you will be good...maybe don't measure from the head? +5

Comparison
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio? The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.

$9.99 / 88 = $0.11 per piece, above the ratio but only by a penny! -10 points. FYI: this is ALWAYS the easiest question/answer section.

Parts 1 - Some of the Placement seems random
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?

I think this is an easy yes. +5 points.

Parts 2 - He wears the Helmet to hide his feelings.
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?

This is pretty much a yes. +5

Parts 3
Total: B+ Not bad so far but I was hoping for better. If I catch this set on clearance I might pick up more for a frame squad of cuteness!!! I know I just went with the build bit I like to see what other frames others could build!

LEGO Star Wars Snowspeeder Review for MF0

The Box
Day Three of our theme week! I am a bit more excited about this set, specially the Snowspeeder is one of my personal favorites from the franchise.

Frame Front
Frame Back
Can you build some sort of creation right away?

Another exercise in creative hip building. Certainly one of my simpler frames but I like it none the less. So we can get a frame out of the box BUT there is more! By more I mean I think the Snowspeeder set itself would be a great start in building some kind of BIG GUNS ship in Intercept Orbit. This certainly earns the +5 points!

Ship Comparison - Just have to fill in the gap completely the bridge.
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio? The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.

$9.99 / 97 pieces = $0.10 per pieces. Surprisingly we meet the Golden Ratio with this set for +0 points.

Parts 1 - CHEEESE!
Parts 2

If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?

Yes, we have many useful parts in this set for +5 points.

Comparison
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?

Hmm, the hard question. I am going to say yes, but a close for +5 points.

The Set - Is this the pilot that took the first hit? "AHHH!"
Total: So a sudden A set after getting much lower rankings from the previous sets. Be certain you will be seeing the Snowspeeder on my Intercept Orbit table.

LEGO Star Wars Vulture Droid Review for MF0

The Box
See ARC-170 Starfighter.

Parts 1
Can you build some sort of creation right away?

I could not get anything out of this set, not a good start. Now the Vulture Droid might be usable in Intercept Orbit but I think it be a bit big for Rapid Attack; the 'wings' rotate to be legs. With that in mind I will give this a +0.

Parts 2
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio? The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.

$9.99 / 77 = $0.13 per piece. Ouch -10 points.

Comparison - So Wide and Deep!
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?

There are certainly some frame parts in here and such. +5 points.

Ship Comparison
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?

I think I am going to have to give this set a no for this question. - 5 points.

The Set
Total: Another C+ set, a bit harsher on the ratio. A lot of big parts, probably why. I like the Vulture head and like to see that get used.

LEGO Star Wars ARC-170 Starfighter Review for MF0

The Box
So I picked this up awhile ago and can be found everywhere. They can still be found but it series 3 is around the corner and some of the sets are started to get clearance prices.

Can you build some sort of creation right away?

I couldn't get anything out of this set and I really wanted to utilize the round 4x4 flat turbine pieces! I really don't like the spaceship build either and don't think it be right for Intercept Orbit (others might) so I am going to go with -5 points.

Parts 1
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio? The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.

$9.99 / 95 pieces = $0.11 per piece going just over the ratio for -10 points

Parts 2
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?

Certainly has some useful parts for one reason or another for +5 points.

The Set
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?

Hmm, I think this set actually breaks down the middle so I will give the rare 0 points.

Total: C+ set, not a very good but not expecting any super scores from these series as most are over the Golden Ratio.

Showcase: MOC Space Dock and Runway by MCH Custom

The Sets
Alright so we have another different post then usual. Today we are looking at MOC Space Dock and Runway by MCH Custom. I picked up four of each while they were on sale; I figured they could be fun for talking photos with.

So first of all I am not sure if this is an actual set that MCH design and produces or something they bought and sell. It didn't come in a box but the instructions are rather high quality. Second the parts are not LEGO but an off-brand or in house produced.

Over all though the pieces are pretty good, some slightly loose compared to LEGO but once it was completely built head together. The lowest quality pieces I would say are the black rod pieces used to connect the sets to each other. Seem a bit too stiff and some of the over lips seem underdeveloped. Out of all the sets only two pieces were off in color, too dark of grey.

The walls of the set were a bit short then I expected but also works out sort of if you look above. Seems like a pilot or maintenance access spot. I might try to add a wall to the balcony to completely hide anything behind the Space Dock.

Over all I am satisfied with my purchase and look forward to adding them to my review style, just have to remember that I have them first.

Too large for Station use but they could be added to your battlefield scenery but seem out of place without some other pieces to give the feel of a full size base or maybe giving it a roof to make it seem like a proper hanger?

That's all I got, enjoy the pictures!
