Mobile Alternative Zero: Transformers Construct-Bots Dinobot Riders

The Bags
So one of the reasons we love Mobile Frame Zero is LEGO but one of the great things about MF0 is we don't have to use LEGO. I saw these at Five Below and wondered if this was something that might work so I picked up one of each different Transformer they had in stock. These are part of the Construct-Bot line and seem are meant to go on the backs of the DinoBots of the line.

Parts Breakdown
So each one is 18 parts including faction Emblem and a Weapon. Pretty much everyone breaks down to the same 18 parts BUT they do transform. These could be used to play around with that idea; check out the Hanger about that: here.

Lockdown Car - For Scale

Lockdown - Robot For Scale

Built they be perfect to the scale but there really isn't too many system options. They all have guns except Drift you has a sword. The Emblem  maybe a Defense and the wheels could be Green; specially if playing with Transformation rules. Does not seem there is any kind of accessory packs one could buy so yes, system options are limited.

Optimus Prime - Robot
Optimus Prime - Truck
So over all, I think these are a 'No Go' for MF0 use. Great for the scale but without more options for systems there isn't much of a point.

LEGO City Sports Car Review for MF0

The Bag
Alright, welcome to Target's Valentine's Day LEGO poly bag. I was a little excited at my first glance with this set between the piece count and price. Let's see what we get when we open it up.

Can you build some sort of creation right away?

Despite the large count I couldn't come up with anything  though some one more creative might get a station out of it. I ultimate tried to make an Intercept Orbit HVA but it was a wash. -5 points.

Parts 1
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio? The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.

$3.99 / 47 = $0.09 per part. Stupid rounding, we are under the Golden Ratio but I was hoping for...less...+5 points.

Parts 2 - ...plates...
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?

A few useful common parts for looks, a rare part for standard Hi-Legs so +5 points.

Parts 3 What am I suppose to do with this...HVA base for builds?
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?

I am going to say no to this giving a -5 points.

The Set - I like building them...
Total: So, you like blue? B set, great if you are looking for some of the few parts in it in the color of blue. Have fun kids!

LEGO Nexo Knights Ultimate Macy Review for MF0

ULTIMATE MACY - Fantasy
I snagged this up at Target but they are pretty much every as Nexo Knights is LEGO's newest TV/Game Franchise combo. I will be honest, there is some interesting stuff in this new collection between parts and colors but again not the best pricing.

Parts 1 - So many studs...
Can you build some sort of creation right away?

A lot of parts but couldn't fashion a frame or ship out of the parts given. -5 points.

Parts 2
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio? The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.

$9.99 / 101 = $0.10 per parts right on the ratio for 0 points.

Parts 3
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?

There is some standard pieces but not a lot and certainly some fun interesting ones. Golden ax head, the trans orange grabber pieces, the mace the set builds and that large pointy piece might be good in Intercept Orbit. +5 points.

The Set - That Flaming Ax...and Honestly I like the Shield Icons a lot.

Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?

I am going to say no on this one over all. -5 points.

Comparison - Wicked Mace! Honestly You could field Ultimate Macy herself but put her on a plate.
Total: So we have a B- set which is more about getting some neat parts then getting a frame off the ground. Though Ultimate Macy could be used all by herself but I would slap her on a plate for a base; just trust me on this.

LEGO Ninjago Anacondrai Battle Mech for MF0

The Set
Wow, so this is a very exciting set for a polybag. Look at this thing! This is a starter bag! Spotted at TRU and Wal-Mart. Unfortunately I think it was put out as a very limited run.

The Set and the Build!

Can you build some sort of creation right away?

Well...I didn't build anything original here. The set in the bag is a perfect frame on its own; a frame in a bag with systems!  +5 points.

Parts 1
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio? The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.

$3.99 / 43 = $0.09 per part, just below the ratio for +5 points.

Parts 2
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?

Lots of usual parts here. +5 points

Comparison

Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?

This is most certainly a yes for +5 points!

Frame Card
Total: So we have a +A  set, frame in the bag golden child set but sorry if this post is a bit late and they are all gone. :( I should

LEGO Creator Tiger Review for MF0

The Bag
I picked this cute little guy from TRU the other day and frankly I got a little excited. I think you will figure out why as we do our review.

The Frame -Le Tiger
Can you build some sort of creation right away?

I made this stumpy little frame above, not the best but sort of cute! +5 points

For Comparison
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio? The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.

$3.99 / 73 = $0.05 per part! WOW, that is half of the ratio! Can I give it bonus points? +5 points.

Parts 1 - So do you like oranges and cheese?
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?

We certainly have some regulars  in this set. +5 points.

Parts 2
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?

Got some good pieces, got some bad but I think we got more good giving this another +5 points. Perfect score?

"roar"
Total: A+ perfect score! Hard to beat that 5 cent cost per piece and the tiger could be a small jump to a frame all by itself. A pretty good polybag but not 'Frame in the Bag' status. Happy New Years.

LEGO Star Wars First Order Special Forces TIE Fighter Review for MF0

The Bag
Wow, that is a long title! Picked this up at Target while visiting family but my local one doesn't seem to have it. I have gotten TIE fighter poly bags before but this one seems a bit different. Let's see what is inside?

Can you build some sort of creation right away?

I was not able to. I tried to build a ship and well...I didn't like it enough to call it a ship. You might be able to field the TIE as is in Intercept Orbit but I just don't think it will work. It would look odd and your real mounting points would be the side panels? No, no build for -5 points.
 Parts 1 - plates
Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio? The Golden Ratio is $0.10 per part.

$3.99 / 41 = $0.10 per part breaking even for 0 points!

Parts 2
If you can't build a frame right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?

Yes, very much some good parts for frame building, maybe even space ships. Love the 'cockpit glass' piece. Wish the TIE Prototype had that one. +5 points.

The Set 1
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?

So here it get's tricky, there is stuff for building the core of a frame but nothing past that. About a quarter of the bag is the big plates then you have all those round plates. I am going to have to give this one a -5.

The Set 2
Total: B- set, decent price for parts but not a lot of useful parts for common builds. Though on the other hand I love the set itself. I wonder how much it would cost to get a bunch of the printed clear pieces in this set from Bricklink?

RPG Review The End of the World: Zombie Apocalypse

Here are my thoughts on the first book of the The End of the World RPG series: Zombie Apocalypse by Fantasy Flight games. 143 pages. 21 pages for character creation and the rules. The game's intent is for players to play themselves, in their home town starting with the stuff they own/is around them.

Of course going with fictional characters is ok too and very much suggests the group does one or the other.

Even with fictional characters you are not playing heroes, you are suppose to be regular people trying to survive the zombie apocalypse. The system is certainly is light and narrative but drives the sense of...realism or regular joes with a 'triple damage system'.

What I mean is beside taking to your body, your mind and faith in humanity is also on the line to take damage leaning to your demise be it death, insane or a whimpering mess as you see everyone as just monsters.

7 pages for Game Masters (GMs) about getting into the system a bit more, about running the game, advancement and other advice.

90 pages for 5 scenarios to entertain your friends with. Each one provides a frame work to put your city in with different NPCs, set-ups and varieties of zombies to discover.

It is certainly an interesting take on where to take RPGs and I look forward to trying this game out and collecting the other books as the books. Wrath of the Gods is already out, Alien Invasion is on its way and the final one is Revolt of the Machines.
