LEGO Chima Eagle Legend Beast Review for MFZ

Original Review System by Mantis King

So it seems that Mantis King as tweaked his Review System to be more universal vs my breaking it down into three different paths so lets try that for a bit and see where it takes us, eh? (I might be digging FX's Fargo right now...)

Our Box
Can you build some sort of creation right away?

Well, yes yes you can. I built a frame which for the most part that I like and I squeezed two different spaceships out of it. I was disappointed with the first one I made so I tried my hand at going with a second one. Both have a rather Ijad feel to them which was my goal. +5 points

It is a tiny frame but I like the use of the claw for leg tips. Those could easily count as melee systems I think.

Yes, this is the front.

This is the first ship a built and I really didn't like it, it didn't have the feel or the look I was quite aiming for. If you can't tell I was trying to use the Axe head as some kind of escort ship for the ship that could counted as some kind of system.

Please ignore the yellow legs.

This is the second ship I built out of this seat and I am much more pleased with it. I which I could have figured out how to make it longer but I am using the wings the way I really wanted to this time. The yellow legs are not suppose to be there, I couldn't find my any of my LEGO pieces that make up my stand for 'flight' pictures so I had to figure something out.

Is it below, at, or above the golden ratio? (10 cents per part)

Math time, we have $9.99 divided by 105 parts to give us 10 cents per part. This meets the ratio which is surprising as the other sets of Legend Beast are below but it was close. Honestly if you kind find it for two cents less (Wal-Mart) then you might be under ratio. +0 points

If you can't build a creation right away, or choose not to, does it have parts you should be able to put into use right away?

If you look below there certainly several useful parts, be it frames or spaceships. I think this set is a bit down the middle about such things. +5

Wings!
Does it have more than a handful of immediately useful parts?

Absolutely, the above statement sort of applies to this as well. +5

THE RATING: Our total (15 by the way) gives a A rating for this set with split focus on frames or spaceships I think though for a spaceship I think you might need to snag a few more parts depending on the size you will be aiming for.

Alright, now that we are done with that let's take a look at the bit more silly side and them some of my photo shooting.

LEGO Chima Crocodile Legend Beast Review for MFZ

Original Review System by Mantis King

The Box
Running late as it is day 4 but no post for day three! So here is your day 3 of Chima Legend Beast but running late. Hopefully I can get to day for by...today! So next we have the Crocodile with it's interesting teeth pieces! Let's get deeper!

Instructions
Can you build a frame or frames right away?
I did just that, not my best and not my worse! +5

Quad Pod!
Can you build a spaceship or spaceships right away?
Yes internet, I can and this one I believe is bigger then some of my other ones and a bit closer to the size we are seeing in the Alpha Bandit Kickstarter just kind of skinny. +5

Are there "I will cut a ship..." rules?
The teeth pieces work well to make engine piece.
Can you build a station or a piece of cover right away?
There are some good pieces to help make cover but none of the right stuff to make it out of the set but certainly a very interesting station of some kind can be cobbled from this I am certain. +5

Is it below, at or above the golden ratio? (10 cents per part)
Insert loud statement here! $9.99/122 = 8 cents per part! That beats the Wolf and the Gorilla! Wonder how the others will fare? +5

I am hungry, someone hand me a plate?

Does it have more then an handful of immediately useful parts for everyone?
I certainly think so, +5 all around!

Why is there a third eye?
If you can't build a frame right away, does it have parts to do so?
Certainly, look at that 'awesome' quad walker I made along with all those ball joints! +5

I got nothing...
If you can't build a spaceship right away, does it have parts to do so?
Yes, the teeth are great for making engine looking ends and those...grey L shape parts can certainly be used on a spaceship build! +5

The Card and Stickers
If you can't build a station or cover right away, does it have parts to do so?
Yes. +5

Score Card
Frames: 20 for A+
Spaceships: 20 for A+
Everything Else: 20 for A+

Starting to see a pattern with these sets! Now to some more pictures!

Croc side shot!

Not taller like the others but certainly has more mass...and will stab you...
Lunch!

LEGO Chima Wolf Legend Beast Review for MFZ

Original Review System by Mantis King

The Box
Day two of our Chima Legend Beast Week of Reviews. On day two I present to you the Wolf Legend Beast! It will sniff you out and claw you down! I have seen it in all the usual places.

Can you build a frame or frames right away?
Well, yes you can! +5 A made a walker which looks ready to charge and ram someone!

Also looks like a critter but I also like the idea of pilots painting on their frames...
Can you build a spaceship or spaces right away?
I certainly did for another +5

White Whale?
Talking about Spaceships, the great creator Joshua A.C. Newman has starter his Kickstarter for Alpha Bandit which is book two of the MF0 series in which you could use a spaceship like this though looking at the example ones mine might be two small or require adjusting the scale. Here is a link to Alpha Bandit Kickstarter Page.

Can you build a station, or a piece of cover?
I have to go with a no here, I think it would be a bit of a stretch. -5

Is it below, at or above the golden ratio? (10 cents per part baby!)
Mathmaticus! $9.99/111= $0.09 for below! +5

If you can't build a frame right away does it have parts that could be of use right away?
Absolutely, several interesting elements I have seen used in builds! +5

If you can't build a spaceship right away, does it have parts that could be of use right away?
I believe so, though once I get my hands on the book and can get a better look at the example ships I will get better at answering this. +5

If you can't build something else right away, does it have parts that could be of use right away?
I certainly think so despite all the plates though plates could be good for a station. +5

Does it have more then a handful of immediately useful parts for frames?
There are certainly a lot of plates but a lot other other goodness too so will say yes but a close no. +5

New pieces, these made the tail.
Does it have more then a handful of immediately useful parts for spaceships?
For now I am going with a yes, so much white! +5

Does it have more then a handful of immediately useful parts for everything else?
Not sure about this one, lot of interesting stuff but I couldn't think of anything so going with no for a -5.

Score Card!
Frames: 20 for an A+ set
Spaceships: 20 for an A+ set
Everything Else but Frames and Spaceships: 0 for a B set.

Over all a good set but not so much for building terrain or perhaps stations, a lot of ball joint stuff going on for you to play with if you want to check that out. Now for some fun photos!

Woof...
Again it out sizes the regular frame!
1 2 3 your pinned!

LEGO Chima Gorilla Legend Beast Review for MFZ

Original Review System by Mantis King

The Box...look at that Hammer... O_O
Welcome to the Start of Chima Legend Beast week at Dark Cloud Blogs! As you can see we are starting with the massive Gorilla! Let's Get on with this review!I have seen them at Target, Toys-R-Us and Wal-Mart.

Can you build a frame or frames right away?
This is a yes, I build a funny looking walker. I have been using this reviews to flex my LEGO building mind and become more of a 'creative' builder! So, +5

Not as sad looking as the other one...and bigger!
Can you build a spaceship or spaceships right away?
Yes you can and take a look at this bad boy! +5

I don't think there is grappling or melee rules in Alpha Bandit...
Can you build terrain, stations or something else?
I didn't try but there is certainly enough brown and other pieces I am sure you could make some interesting cover or even a station out of this set! +5

The Stickers and the Card for Chima Online; anyone play this?
Is it below, at or below the Golden Ratio? (10 cents per part)
Math time! $9.99/107 = 9 cents per part so below if not barely! +5

If you can't build a frame right away, does it have parts that are immediately useful?
The small ball joints are certainly interesting and several other parts that see some common use depending on what you are building. Even some new parts I haven't seen besides the small ball joints. +5

If you can't build a spaceship right away, does it have parts that are immediately useful?
Yes, several parts I think would be good for spaceships. +5

If you can't build a station or cover right away, does it have parts that are immediately useful?
Yes, so much brown! +5

The Ball Joint Pieces
Does it have more then a handful of useful parts for everybody?
Yes it certain does I think! +5

New one for me I think...
Totals:
Frames: 20 for A+
Spaceships: 20 for A+
Stations and Terrain: 20 for A+

A Plus across the board, amazing! Though I have a feeling not many people will want to work with brown but look at that HAMMER! Now for the completed model and some fun!
Come at me Bro!
As you can see, much bigger then a standard CHUB
I want two pieces...
I hold the Power of Thor...and a little shield...
